More West Texas, El Paso, and New Mexico - pictures

Tuesday 8/1 After Carlsbad, we drove back into Texas on Hwy 62/180, past the Guadalupe Mountains National Park on our way to I-10. I had no idea Texas has such striking mountains. It sprinkled most of way to El Paso, which turned into heavy showers and flooding, as described previously. By Wednesday 8/2, the rain had cleared and it was a beautiful drive across New Mexico and into Arizona.

We didn't get a picture of the official Continental Divide sign when we crossed it in NM - but we took this consolation picture of a billboard advertising the gas station/store at the next exit.













In NM and AZ, we saw freight train after freight train - and not much else. John informed me that he had read how trains can go for 12 hours but must stop for the engineers to rest - just stop where ever they are. We saw 7+ long trains stopped along these tracks, one after another.
