weird weather

A sampling of daily life in southern arizona:
The past 3 mornings it has been cloudy when I have woken up (usually it is sunny).

This morning it was almost tropical outside. There was a humid cool breeze with dark clouds. People were mowing the grass - so it also smelled like morning wet grass. Mowing does not have to be done that frequently here (mostly because people have pebbles instead of grass), but sure enough, around campus there was light green new grass growth from the rain we've had.

At noon, the sun was peaking through the clouds a little. It was 82 with 49% humidity (high for here). This was the report around 3pm:
"The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...western Pima County in south central Arizona
* until 330 PM MST
* at 236 PM MST... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a severe
thunderstorm. This storm was located near Ajo... moving west at 5 mph.
This storm will produce damaging winds in excess of 60 mph and blowing dust...followed by hail and heavy rain."
--I never saw any signs of this - it was sunny on my walk home from work. But it is an example of the strangeness of today's weather.

I think my reaction shows my adaptation to the climate. A few weeks is enough to become biologically -and apparently psychologically- acclimated to an environment.
