more memphis

Memphis has a lot to offer and I certainly plan to return. Thanks to Malinda's hosting I got to do and see many things in about a day and half and eat my fill of barbecue.

Memphis has beautiful tree-lined streets















Of course, there is Beale St - which I had forgotten was a feature of Memphis until Malinda mentioned it. We went back on Saturday evening and this street was packed with people. The roads were packed as well post-Memphis in May festivities. Malinda noted that in Memphis there are special traffic cops that don't get real police cars. Though traffic is their only responsibility, on Saturday evening, traffic was a mess. In one intersection, there were 3 guys trying to direct traffic. Only one had light sticks. They would do some directing, stop everyone, confer, and then direct again. At one point, two guys were waving traffic into each other. But, we got through and found good parking, and were able to enjoy the evening.





























We made a trip to the Peabody to see the world's most spoiled ducks. Here we are on the roof.















Downtown also boasts an extensive trolly system, which were free down main street for art galleries and wine night (not the official title) Friday.




























Malinda said some people refer to this as the Dolly bridge. This pic also demonstrates the red air quality day, partly because of the GA and FL fires.
