Comments:
-Cal students are clever - they have coordination and can spell. During half-time, the student section held up coordinated colored panels to spell things out. (Maybe it is a PAC-10 thing - they do it at Arizona too, but not with so much cleverness). The best was: "What's SEC stand for? -- Sorry Excuse for College." To which I took personal offense.
-The stadium was sold-out with respectable amount of Orange representing. Last weekend, Arizona went to Cal to play, and the stadium wasn't near full.
-I understand that Memorial Stadium holds historical and significant meaning to Cal fans. But let's look at the facts. The Stadium is built on a fault line. The seats are wooden. There are only two paths to get to your seat, since it is only one tier. One narrow isle around the upper rim is not enough and it took forever at a creeping along pace to get to our aisle, which gave me time to take the picture above. There are no inside facilities - it is California, it is mild, it is open air. This also means porta potties.
All in all, though, it was a good time - it was warm and sunny and we got to wear orange and sing Rocky Top.
