This week I purchased some flour tortillas from Safeway--not a generic brand but one from Tucson and that boasts "made fresh daily": Alejandro's. For $1.39, you get 12 small size flour tortillas ($0.89 for corn).
I bought them without a particular use in mind, which was dangerous, because I have been eating them plain. They taste almost like pancakes: flour and butter, fried in a pan, and are quite addictive.
I can't believe I have waited this long for local tortillas. Maybe next time, I will go right to the source, but it is good to know that Safeway offers local products.
