difference

I thought the thing I would miss the most about the desert was the daily sun. After 2 sunny weeks in the Bay Area, those fears were removed. Instead, back in Tucson and driving tonight, I realized it is the sweeping sunsets that will be absent in San Jose. Perhaps an acceptable trade off for a mild summer.

My sister mentioned that the Bay Area has a winter rainy season but she never remembers hearing thunder. Wikipedia adds that San Jose, compared to SF and other parts of the Bay, has a dry, almost desert-like climate, with over 300 days of sun a year.  A good summer thunderstorm will be sorely missed.
